£4,000 raised in 4 weeks for new Roof

19th May 2024

Following the launch of the appeal to raise £4,000 to pay for a new roof for the school, Members of The King's Church Arnold held an offering which raised £4,000 in just four weeks!

Mick Tinkler who is a trustee of the Baranku School Fundraising Charity and a trustee of The King's Church Arnold, shared the way in which he, and his wife, Caroline, found the school during a trip to The Gambia in 2023.  He told church members about the school and shared that the school needed a new roof.  Over the following four weeks the people who attended the church were so generous with their gifts that the target was reached.

As I write this the school is organising for the contractors to begin the work to build a brand new roof for the school.  It is hoped that the roof can be replaced before the rainy season starts in June.  Without the new roof the school would have had to close when it rains as it would be unsafe for the children to attend.  In The Gambia it rains most days between June and September.

We look forward to updates as this work progresses over the coming weeks.
